Type:Type Specimen Poster Size:32 inch x 24 inch
Franklin Gothic, a classic and versatile sans-serif typeface designed by Morris Fuller Benton in 1902, has consistently remained popular among designers due to its geometric construction and legibility. As a fan of the Museum of Modern Art ( MOMA ), I was drawn to the typeface when I discovered that MOMA utilizes it in its brand system. Paula Scher, partner, and designer at Pentagram, the design agency behind MOMA's branding, explains that Franklin Gothic was selected for its timeless and classic appearance, as well as its association with American modernism and MOMA's own history. In this type specimen poster, I showcase the unique features, styles, and weights of Franklin Gothic and its potential for various use. To further enhance the reader's interest, ideas from various designers on why they choose this typeface are integrated into the body text. These personal insights provide a deeper understanding of the typeface's appeal.
